Avipes (Avipes
dillstedtianus) - living in the Middle Tr iassic (Ladinian) [1] archosaur of uncertain systematic position. Its generic name means bird rate ; it refers to the similarity between the metatarsal bones of this animal to the bird. Known on ly from three very poorly preserved fragments of metatarsal bones measuring about 80 mm, discovered near Dillstedt in Thuringia (Germany). Initially classified as Ceratosaurus or celurozaur; Rauhut and HungerbĂĽhler (2000) considered Avipes dillstedtianus as nomen dubium and said with great certainty that you can only include it to the archosaurs, but closer to the classification is not possible [1].
